Edwards Small Mortuary announces the passing of Mr. Charles E. Hollis. Mr. Hollis entered into eternal rest on June 26, 2023. Our deepest condolences to the family and friends.
Mr. Charles Hollis, Sr. was born in Sumter County, Georgia on June 26, 1946 to the late Cleve Hollis and Rosalee Carter Hollis.
At an early age, Charles dedicated his life to God and became a member of Scott Maters AME Church in Americus, Georgia. During the Civil Rights Movement in Southwest Georgia in 1963, Mr. Hollis was arrested along with a group of other young men for 45 days.
Charles was a graduate from Staley Jr High School from seventh grade to twelfth grade. He graduated at an early age. He was a dedicated and hard worker for many years. He worked for Edwards Farming and Camille and Moon for many years until his health declined.
On Thursday, June 26, 2023 at 10:00pm at Atrium Health Navicent Hospice Pine Pointe in Macon, Georgia, God called him home from labor to reward.
Charles is preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Hollis and grandson, Fi’ya Hollis and sister, Verna Hollis.
He leaves to cherish his memory: three daughters: Cassandra Hollis, Macon, GA, Yolonda Hollis, Sparta, GA, Regina (Johns) Scott, Byron, GA; sons: Charles (Carol) Hollis, Jr ,Warner Robins, GA, Michael Hollis, Warner Robins, GA, Michael Hollis, Warner Robins, GA; sister: Sandra Washington, Americus, GA; brother: Clifford (Kimberly) Washington, Yonkers, New York; aunt: Y. Hollis, Americus, GA; sister-in-law: Eva Bouie, Warner Robins, GA; grandson: Fi’ya Hollis; a special nephew, Joseph Jones, III, Americus, GA; two devoted friends: Geannette Harvey and Sammie Pastor, Fort Valley, GA; along with a host of other grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other sorrowing relatives and friends.
