Deastrice Uvon Whitehead Mathis

­Deastrice Uvon Whitehead Mathis was born in Peach County on February 28, 1976. She was the third of seven children born to the late Ulysess Whitehead II and Johnnie Mae Postell Whtehead; she was the pride and joy of her Daddy! Family and close friends called her Dee Dee.

Dee Dee attended Peach County Schools and graduated in 1994. During her high school years whil working at Harvey's Grocery Store, she developed a passion for caring for the elderly. After completing Middle Georgia Technical College, she turned her attentio to teaching special needs children. This became her lifelong career until she retired due to failing health. She loved taking pictures and visiting people to offer comfort in their time of need.

Dee Dee was baptised as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on uly 1, 1989. She was zealous in the preaching work and was widely known for that, not only in the house-to-house ministry, but in her community and at work. People knew her as someone who genuinely cared for people. Even as her health declined, she continued sharing God's Word with many.

Dee Dee and Eddie F. Mathis were married on January 24, 2024.  Eddie said she was a capable wife.  "Her value was far more valuable than that of corals." (Proverbs 31:10) She is survived by her husband Eddie F. Mathis, his son Edward, whom she had known all his life.  her siblings: Patricia Cullens Ingran (Thomas), Garry Cleveland Cullens, Jr., Ulyssess Whitehead III (brandi), Justin Lee Whitehead (Keffany), Brandon Michael Whtehead (Jennifer) and Allen Whitehead (Carlita).  Two aunts: Lillie Mae Howell and Shirlene Avant.  Two nephews: Di'Antre and Jase.  Five nieces: Koa, London, Kai, Logan, and Olivia.  Many cousins, who were very dear to her.  She also leaves behind a host of very close friends, as well as spiritual fathers, mothers, brothers and sisters.
