Edwards Small Mortuary announces with our deepest sympathies the passing of Dempsey Beachum. Our condolences to the family and friends.
“Fear thou not; for I am with thee; for I am thou God; I will strengthen thee; you, I will help thee; yea I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.” Isaiah 41:10 NKJV
Dempsey L. Beachum of Fort Valley, Georgia departed this earthly life on August 6, 2025.
Dempsey was born on July 11, 1959 in Marshallville, Georgia to the parents, C.W. Beachum and Laurice Beachum. She attended the public schools in Macon County. She studied hard and became successful student graduating from Macon County High School in 1977. She also received and associate degree from Central Georgia Technical College.
Dempsey accepted Christ as her savior in 1977. Her early church experience was Friendship Baptist Church where she served where needed. However she chose to serve as a member of the Usher Board, She later moved her membership to the Hope Church in Warner Robins, GA after moving to that city. Again serving was what she did. The media ministry was where she served. Dempsey served the Lord with gladness.
During her leisure time, she enjoyed talking with family and friends. She also dabbled in writing. She was the author of a book about her beloved cat “Tiger”. Tiger was a great joy to her bringing many hours of pleasure when he went through his acrobatic behavior.
Dempsey was preceded in death by her father C.W Beachum, mother Laurice Beachum and sister Gracie Wright (after the death of her mother Gracie was like a second mother).
Dempsey is survived by a devoted son Desmond Cleveland of Prescott, AZ; two sisters Terry Felton (Johnny) of Fayetteville, NC, Mary J Edwards of Fort Valley, GA; brother , Richard Jones (Bernice) of Fort Valley, GA ; brother –in-law Homer Wright of Warner Robins, GA ; nieces Denise Small, and Shannon Wright; nephews Johnny Felton Jr, Michael Felton, Justin Jones, Kelvin Jones, Christopher Wright, and Travis Wright with a host of other family members and friends Vanessa Buckner and Liz McCoy.
