Mary Denise Jackson

Edwards Small Mortuary announces with our deepest condolences the passing of Mary Denise Jackson, Saturday, October 22nd.

II Timothy 4:7-8

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteousness Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.

Mary Denise Jackson was born on February 6, 1953 in Daytona Beach, Florida to the parents, Alphonso B. Varner and the late Juanita Edwards Varner who preceded her in death along with her sister, Gina Marisa Varner.

She attended H.E. Hunt High School in Peach County, Georgia. She also attended Crandall Junior College and pursued an Associates Degree in Business.

Mary’s career began at Peach County Hospital where served as a respiratory therapist. Later, she worked at The Leader Tribune in Fort Valley as an ad specialist. Finally Mary found the job that was perfect for her when she was hired as a teacher at Fort Valley Head Start where she served until she retired.

She met the love of her life, Lewis Jackson, Jr. and they were joined in holy matrimony on April 27, 1971. To this union, three children were born.

Mary was a devoted member of Fairview CME Church where she served as a member of several ministries including the following: missionary, program committee, usher board, choir, praise dance coordinator and the writer of plays and poems for the church. She had a compassionate heart for the less fortunate; however, she could find humor in almost any situation.
