Derrick Meadows

Derrick DeFrances Meadows was born on June 4, 1971, in Reynolds, Georgia, to the proud parents of Willie James and Dianne Meadows.

Derrick was educated in the Peach County School System and was a proud graduate of the Peach County High School Class of 1989.

Following high school, he continued his education at Fort Valley State University. He was also a dedicated member of the Peach County High School Football Club Alumni, where his love for the game continued long after his playing days ended.

Derrick had a great passion for football—he loved both watching and attending games—but his greatest joy came from being a grandfather.

Spending time with his grandchildren and family brought him tremendous happiness and pride.

He was employed for many years with Macon Behavioral Health and the Peach County Sheriff’s Department, where he served his community faithfully until his health began to decline.

Derrick was preceded in death by his beloved father, Willie James Meadows, his grandmothers, Freddie Mae Jordan and Jessie Ragin (Albert; and grandchildren: Heaven Rawls, Christian Gibson, and Carter Gibson.

He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted mother, Dianne Meadows; loving children, Aderrickia Meadows, Jyquez Meadows, and Tevin Vines; sister, Celestine Burden; uncles, Martinous Ragin (Penny), David Meadows (Sheila), Michael Jordan, Richard Jordan, David Rumph, and Phillip Jordan; aunts, Phyllis Williams, Lisa Rashidi (Kuumba) and Marilyn Meadows-Stephens; grandchildren, Christina Jones, Mariah Rawls, and Landri Rawls ; nephews, Lamaud Burden and Larry Burden; along with a host of loving cousins, nieces, nephews, and sorrowing friends who will forever treasure his memory.

Derrick will be remembered for his kindness, his laughter, and the love he shared with his family and friends. Though he is gone from our sight, his spirit and the impact of his life will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
