James Oates

Mr. James J. O. Oates was born on November 25, 1959, in Fort Valley, Georgia, to the late Earnest Harper, Sr. and Lottie Oates Talton.

James attended the public schools of Peach County, where he was an outstanding football player, softball player, and track runner. He was employed at Ryans Stackhouse until its closure.

James redecided to dedicate his life to God by joining The Feed Center Family Worship Center.

James was joined in Holy Matrimony to Mrs. Brenda Clark Oates, who preceded him in death.

James departed this life on July 23, 2025, at Peach County Atrium Health.

He leaves to mourn his passing: one daughter, Abria Oates, one devoted sister, Belinda Talton of Fort Valley, Georgia., five devoted brothers, Jimmy Harper, Sr. of Warner Robins, Georgia, Clarence Oates of Byron, Georgia, Charles L. Talton, Jr. of Abbeville, Georgia, Ronnie Talton and Kenneth Talton of Fort Valley, Georgia.

One uncle, Mr Johnny Oates (Vera), one aunt, Mrs. Hazel Dodson, both of Fort Valley, Georgia; two sisters-in-laws, Mrs. Arnita (Gordon) Owens and Phyllis Clark; two brothers-in-laws, Bruce (Shontaye) Clark and Dwayne Clark. Three grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends: a devoted nephew, Mr. JaQuez Oates; two devoted nieces, Mrs. Jasmine Briggs and Mrs. Shikea Wilbourn; and a devoted friend, Ms. Amy Jackson.
