He was a man of quiet strength, with a gentle spirit and a caring heart.
James Edward Simpson was born in Eufaula, Alabama, on January 9, 1948 to the late Leroy and Eula Simpson. From his earliest years, James developed the values that would define his life: faith, hard work, responsibility, kindness, and devotion to family.
James was deeply loved by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He was a man of quiet strength, with a gentle spirit and a caring heart. He was always willing to lend a helping hand or offer words of encouragement when they were needed most. His wisdom, kindness, and steady presence made an enduring impression on those around him.
- A LIFE OF DEDICATION AND SERVICE
James was a hardworking and dedicated professional who devoted approximately 35 years of combined service to Northrop and Vought Aerospace. His career took him to Los Angeles, California; Perry, Georgia; and Stuart, Florida.
After many years of faithful service, James retired as a Maintenance Specialist.
Throughout his distinguished career, James received numerous awards recognizing his commitment to safety, excellence, and service. He also participated in charitable efforts with the United Way. His professional accomplishments reflected the qualities he carried throughout his life-dependability, integrity, commitment, and a strong work ethic.
- A MAN OF FAITH —
James's faith was an important foundation of his life. After leaving Crenshaw Christian Center in Los Angeles, California, in 1990, he continued his spiritual journey. In March 1992, James rededicated his life to Christ and joined Fellowship Bible Baptist Church.
James was not simply a member of his church—he was an active and faithful servant. Over the years, he shared his time and gifts through the Usher Board, Mercy Showing, Couples Ministry, Men in Black, Christian Enrichment Class, and Trailblazers.
He remained a faithful member of Fellowship Bible Baptist Church until his illness prevented him from participating as he once had. His faith continued to sustain him throughout his journey and remained a source of strength and comfort until his passing.
James understood that a life of faith is demonstrated not only through words, but through service, generosity, compassion, and love for others.
- THE MAN WE LOVED
James knew the importance of working hard, but he also knew how to enjoy life. He loved to travel, and cruises were among his favorite adventures. He enjoyed fishing, cooking, painting, and dancing, activities that allowed him to relax, laugh, connect with others, and create lasting memories.
Above all, James loved his family. For 49 years, he shared his life's journey with his loving and devoted wife, Florence Bolar-Simpson. Their marriage represented decades of companionship, commitment, family, and love.
James gave so much of himself to those he loved. His family will remember his quiet strength, wisdom, kindness, encouragement, and the many lessons he taught simply by the way he lived his life.
"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race,
I have kept the faith." 2 Timothy 4:7
