Edwards Small Mortuary announces with our deepest sympathy the passing of Jimmy Clyde Harris. Our sincere condolences to the family and friends.

Jimmy Clyde Harris, “MY CHEETAH” passed away peacefully on May 3, 2025 at the age of 86. Jimmy was born to the late Ed and Lula Harris.

He was preceded in death by his sisters: Eloise Harris, Eddie Mae Keen, Johnnie Bell Harris, Barbara Jones and Janie Harris, his brothers, Earnest Harris and Willie Joe Harris and his son, Michael Harris.

Jimmy attended H. A. Hunt High School in1959 where he became known for athletic prowess. His athletic skills as a football player and a track and field star helped to make him a home town legend.

Jimmy dedicated his life to Christ at an early age by joining the Central Union Baptist Church. After giving his life to Christ, Jimmy became a dedicated servant at Central Union by becoming willing to serve wherever there was a need, for example he served as church custodian making sure the church was always clean, he could be found helping in the church kitchen, serving as an usher and parking attendant.

He was known all over Fort Valley for riding his bike everywhere.

Jimmy leaves to cherish everlasting memories to his survivors, children: Avis (Sam) McClendon of Fort Valley, GA, Theresa Allen of South Florida, Collette Michelle Releford (Jonathan), Alaetrice Bell-Bennett and Kaill Harris (Iesha) all of Fort Valley, Georgia. Additionally, he leaves to cherish his memories: thirteen grandchildren, eleven grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews as well as other family members and friends. He be dearly remembered by his special friends, Ms. Ruby Smith and Mr. Albert Lawson.
