Joanne Sullivan Miller was born July 12, 1950, to Gordon Sullivan, Sr. and Laura Mae Dewberry Sullivan Dixon in Crawford County, GA. She attended the public schools of Peach County, Georgia and was a proud member of the H. A. Hunt Class of 1968.
At an early age, Joanne joined Gilliard AME. She later changed her membership to Gordan Chapel AME where ushering became her ministry. Her dedication as an usher manifested through her many years of service at Fellowship Temple of the Living God and Shiloh Baptist Church.
Joanne married Marvin Miller and to this union three children were born. Over the years, Joanne had several jobs including Martha Mills, Allied Chemicals, Fort Valley Nursing Home, Shrimp Boat, Peach Area Childcare, Thompson Hospitality, and Peach County School System. Her affectioned smile warmed the heart of many of those who worked with her.
Tuesday morning, April 28, 2026, Joanne Sullivan Miller peacefully transitioned to take her eternal rest after a brave fight against a lengthy illness. She was proceeded in death by her husband: Marvin; parents: Gordon Sullivan Sr. and Laura M. Dixon; her siblings: Hattie Mae Sullivan, Albert Sullivan, Gordon Sullivan, Jr., Ella Sullivan Ridley; and Great Grandson: Mason J. Turner.
Joanne’s beautiful life will forever be cherished in the hearts of her loving children Melissa D. Miller; Richard A. Miller (Lisa), Paul D. Miller (LaNessia); Grandchildren: Thonique J. Brown, NyAnna N. Miller, and Keodria B. Miller; Great Grandchildren: Madison J. Turner and Maxwell J. Turner; sisters: Betty J. Sullivan, Janie S. Dennis, Shirley A. Drake (Calvin), & Cora M. Sullivan; brothers: Robert L. Sullivan (Betty), Ronnie Sullivan, John L. Dixon, and Keith A. Dixon; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends.
