Kiara Siedah McCord was born on June 13, 1990, to Renee and Howard McCord in Camden, New Jersey. She was a granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. James (Grace) McGhee of Marshallville, Georgia, and Mr. and Mrs. Gazyett (Williette) McCord, Jr. of Cairo, Georgia. God, in His boundless wisdom, embraced Kiara in His arms of love as she departed mortal life at age 35 on April 12, 2026.
Kiara, the oldest of two children, grew up in a home filled with laughter and unwavering support. She accepted Christ at an early age and remained a faithful Christian throughout her life. As an Army Brat, Kiara lived in West Deptford, New Jersey; Oshkosh, Wisconsin; Fort Bragg, North Carolina; and Yorktown, Virginia, where she graduated from Tabb High School in 2008. After high school, she enrolled in Hampton University’s 5‑Year MBA Program, receiving both an academic scholarship and a Wachovia merit scholarship, and graduated with honors. Following graduation, Kiara moved closer to her parents after their transfer from Virginia to Huntsville, Alabama.
She accepted a position with the Regional Social Security Administration Office in Birmingham, Alabama, and built a successful 12‑year career as a Legal Administrative Specialist. Her colleagues consistently spoke of her kindness, her willingness to help, and her unwavering dependability.
Kiara found joy in the simple things in life. She was an animal lover who cared for several guinea pigs since middle school. She enjoyed traveling, listening to music, and learning how to bake the best breads and cakes through YouTube tutorials. Kiara loved her family deeply and cared for them with her whole heart.
In the words of Helen Keller, “What we once enjoyed and deeply loved, we can never lose. For all that we love deeply becomes a part of us.” Kiara’s love, laughter, and kindness have truly become a part of us. They are the gifts she leaves behind.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory: her parents, Renee and Howard McCord; her loving brother, Trevor McCord; aunts and uncles: Sirena and Darrell Nixon, Sr., Ike McGhee, Edith Howell, Eugene McGhee, Shirley and Johnny McGhee, Vivian and Kenneth McGhee, Dorothy McGhee, Barbara Jean McGhee, and Green P. Lewis Jr.; special cousins Sabrina McGhee, Shaykele Howell, 1LT Darrell Nixon Jr., and Jaela Nixon; and a host of loving cousins and friends.
