Edwards Small Mortuary announces with our deepest sympathy the passing of Larry Sherman on April 26th, 2025. Our sincere condolences to the family and friends.

Larry Sherman, age 74, of Byron, Georgia, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, April 26, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on October 15, 1950, in Zebulon, Georgia, to the late Oscar L. Sherman, Sr. and Hattie Mae Sherman Ragin, Larry lived a life grounded in faith, family, and dedicated service.

After completing his education in the Pike County School System, Larry enlisted in the United States Army Reserve, where he faithfully served his country for many years. He served with distinction during Desert Storm in Saudi Arabia (1990) and was stationed in Korea (1987) and Germany (1989). Larry retired from military service in January 2002.

He also enjoyed a remarkable 32-year civil service career at Robins Air Force Base, beginning on February 22, 1983. Throughout his tenure, he received several distinguished awards in recognition of his excellence, commitment, and service to the mission and people of RAFB.

A man of unwavering spiritual devotion, Larry dedicated his life to Jehovah and faithfully served as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. His love for the ministry and his deep faith in Jehovah’s promises brought strength and comfort to him and those around him.

Larry found joy in life’s simple and spirited pleasures — he loved playing cards and dominos, shooting pool, and watching NASCAR racing. He was also a die-hard Atlanta Falcons fan, cheering on his team with passion and loyalty through every season.

He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 49 years, Louise Sherman, loving children: Latosha (Harold, Sr.) Worsham, Napoleon (Anita) Daniely, Sharon Haslem, Casey Sherman, and Ramona Sherman Baldwin. He was a proud grandfather to Arlaker Zanders, Tyler Daniely, J’Nia Sherman, Zora Sherman, J’Cobi Sherman, and Shenida Jackson, and a cherished great-grandfather to Lakelan Brown.

He was preceded in death by his brothers: Leroy Sherman and Richard Sherman; son-in-law, Lawrence Haslem.

He is also survived by his siblings: Oscar L. (Wanda) Sherman Jr., Shirley Sherman, Patricia Sherman (Ronnie), Wallace Sherman, Kenneth (Deborah) Sherman, Ralph (Janice) Sherman, Jackie Sherman, and Clarence Norris Jr.; sisters-in-law: Eloise Woods and Rosella Scott; along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and countless friends.

Larry Sherman will be remembered as a man of honor, faith, and unwavering love for those around him. His legacy lives on through the lives he touched, the values he upheld, and the love he gave so freely.
