LaShawn "Shonda" Jones

Edwards Small Mortuary announces with our deepest sympathy the passing of LaShawn Y. Jones on March 29, 2025. Our sincere condolences to the family and friends.

Lashawn Jones, affectionately known as “Shonda” to many, was born on September 20, 1979, to the late Charles Barrett and Rutha Mae Jones of Fort Valley, Georgia. She attended Peach County Public Schools and had a passion for cooking, working, and traveling. Known as the life of the party at family gatherings, she took great pride in helping others and cherished spending time with her family. Lashawn passed away peacefully in her sleep at home.

She is predeceased by her father, Charles Barrett; mother, Rutha Mae Jones; and grandparents, Annie Willie Barrett and Charlie Bible. Her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Lashawn leaves behind loving memories with her children: Ashavia (Rogerick) Williams, Derontae Stewart, Dream Dickson, Zy’metris Jones, Brandon Bogdan, and Jakaden Jones, Alexis Mason; siblings: Lisa (Walter) Johnson, Yolanda Jones, Christine Jones, Charles Barrett Jr., and Jaborious Jones, all of Fort Valley, Georgia; grandchildren: Ziyonna, Amari, Rogerick, D’laysia, Kehlani, and Zanaya; nieces: Kimora, Zaiden, Kimberly, Brittany, TyRonda, Nakiyah, Nikerria, Quatesha, Shy’Asia, Nakisiya, Rarmeshia; nephews: Tyler (Brittany), Quentel, Deondray, Lomorious, all of Fort Valley; close family friends: Nakima Elliott of Fort Valley, Marsha Gosier, Jamoral Clark, Teresa Cullens, Latrice Dickson, Frances Bogdan, Trelis Wilson, Khamela & Karter, A’zuri, D’Undrea Jr. (Kyler), along with other cousins, family members and friends.
