Lillie Mae Howard

Edwards Small Mortuary announces with our deepest condolences the passing of Lillie Howard.

Mrs. Lillie Mae Gibson Howard was born on December 2, 1934, in Roberta, Georgia to the late Dolphus and Ida Gibson. She, along with her three brothers and one sister grew up in a very loving home. Her parents raised their children with Christian values. They taught their children the Golden Rule: “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” She attended the public schools in Roberta, Georgia.

She was united in holy matrimony to the late James Howard on August 27, 1955, and they enjoyed many years of marital bliss.

Lillie Mae was employed for many years by the Peach County Board of Education as a cafeteria worker at Fort Valley Middle School.

She accepted the Lord as her personal savior and made it her business to tell anyone she met about Jesus Christ. She attended New Hope Church of God in Christ where she served as Mother of the Church and faithfully fulfilled her duties until her health began to fail.

Mrs. Howard was committed to family. She always opened her door to gatherings for family and friends. She supported others in their time of need and was eagerly ready to praise the Lord. Lillie’s hobbies included singing gospel songs, shopping, and going out to eat.

Mrs. Lillie Mae was preceded in death by her mother, Ida Gibson; her father, Dolphus Gibson; son, Robert Howard; three brothers: Johnny Gibson, Clifford Gibson, Robert Gibson and one sister, Arlene Woodson.
