Paul Buckner

Edwards Small Mortuary announces with our deepest sympathy the passing of Paul Buckner on September 28, 2024.  Our sincere condolences to the family and friends.

Mr. Paul Buckner was born to the late Lucy Ree and Off Buckner. Paul was also known as “Unk or Buck of the Town”. After graduating from D.F. Douglas High School in Montezuma, GA he was employed by Blue Bird Body Company for 39 years until his retirement. While employed, he received awards in appreciation for dedication while working there as an employee.

Paul was a faithful, dedicated member of The St. James CME Church where he served as Chairman of the Trustee Board and member of the choir and male chorus until his health started failing. Paul loved his Church family and his role as overseer of the Finances.

Paul also loved his family and would do anything they asked with a glad heart. He loved talking with his grandsons when they came to visit. They would sit around eat, drink, laugh, and do some quartet singing. He also loved talking with his granddaughter about life and doing well in school. He enjoyed taking her for rides to grab a bite to eat. He also always asked for his great grandson with a glad heart.

Paul loved spending time with his baby brother Sam and hanging out in his favorite spot watching wheel of Fortune with his sister Tiny.

Mr. Paul Buckner was preceded in death by four brothers: Willie Buckner Sr., O.C. Buckner Sr., Charlie Buckner Sr., and Jimmie Buckner Sr; two sisters: Annie Mae McLane and Mary Lou Harris.

He leaves to cherish his memories: son, Michael Lamar Buckner (Marshallville, GA); daughter, Maria Denise Buckner (Newport News, VA); granddaughter, Ta'Ziah Buckner (Marshallville, GA); two grandsons: Deshawn Letrell Fauntleroy (Newport News, VA); Shawn Landell Fauntleroy Jr and great grandson, Shawn Landell Fauntleroy, III (Hampton, VA); two sisters: Altomese Taylor (Marshallville, GA); Louise Bryant (New Orleans, LA); brother Samuel Buckner (Marshallville, GA); brother-in-law, Otis Harris (Marshallville, GA); sister-in-law, Mary Buckner (Akron Ohio); devoted friend, Annie Ruth Rumph; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
