Robert Lee Smith

Robert Lee Smith, affectionately known to many as “Robert,” departed this life on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at the age of 72 in Fort Valley, Georgia. Born on December 15, 1953, in Crawford County, Georgia, Robert was a lifelong resident of the area and a man known for his quiet strength, hardworking spirit, and deep love for his family.

Robert was the son of the late Eugene Lee Smith Sr. and Eddie Lee Smith. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Luvenia Smith, and his brother, Eugene Smith Jr.

A skilled carpenter by trade, Robert was gifted with his hands and took pride in building and repairing with care and precision. He was an outdoor man who enjoyed nature and found peace in the simple pleasures of life.

Robert leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Clara Smith; one daughter, Kimberly Smith; and one son, Lorenzo Smith.

He is also survived by his loving sisters: Eddie Lee Rumph, Patricia Diane Harris, Carla D. Smith, Jacqueline Ross, Doretha Smith, and Tracy Johnson (Glenn), Deidre Dollar; two brothers: Ronnie Smith and Jimmy Lee Smith; four grandchildren: Deion French, Zykia Nalls, Jaailah Smith, and Jaden Clarington; and two great-grandchildren: Keiona French and Jay’ceion Kemp.

Robert also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends. Among his closest friends were Willie Leary, Ken White, and Duke Neal, who shared many cherished memories with him.

Robert will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his love for the outdoors, and the kindness he extended to those around him. His legacy of love, dedication, and family values will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
