Ronald Hughes

Edwards Small Mortuary announces with our deepest sympathy the passing of Ronald Hughes on October 25, 2023.  Our condolences to the family and friends.

Deacon Ronald Hughes was born in Fort Valley, Georgia on September 12, 1952, to the Late Betty Mae Hughes. He was one of  twelve children. He was preceded in death by five children, DeCarla Hughes, Calandria Bennett, Falandria Bennett, DeMarcus Hughes and Demetricus Hughes; four brothers, Willie James Robinson, Lonnie Hughes, Curtis Hughes and Jimmie Hughes; four sisters, Donnie Bell Robinson, Sharon Hughes, Evonne Hughes and Gwendolyn Dennis.

Ronald attended H. A. Hunt High School and was a member of the class of 1970. He entered the U. S. Army June of 1971 and remained active in the U. S. Army Reserve, 421 ST Quartermaster Company, until his retirement. Ronald was employed by Robins Air Force Base and eventually retired after 30 years of employment. Ronald was active in the following organizations: Powersville Lodge # 134, American Legion Post 268 and the Middle Georgia Football Officials Association. He was a “die heart” Atlanta Falcon fan.

He loved all types of sports and watching cowboy shows. Ronald joined Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church and served faithfully as a member of the Deacon Board, Trustee Board and the Shiloh Baptist Church Male Choir and was willing to do whatever was needed for the benefit of the church. Ronald married Elaine McGhee on May 25, 1996.

On Wednesday, October 25, 2023, Ronald left us peacefully at his home. God stretched out his hands and welcomed him home, wrapping him gently in his arms and rocked him in his bosom for his eternal rest.
