Mrs. Ruby Lee Brown Nixon was born on April 11, 1934, in Crawford County, Georgia, to the late Mrs. Irene Jones White. She attended the public schools of Crawford and Peach Counties.
In her early adult years, Mrs. Nixon was united in marriage to the late Arthur Brown. From this union, she was blessed with two children, Bobby Brown and Harold Brown. Later, she was also blessed with her daughter, Carol “Peggy” Brown Shields.
A dedicated and hardworking woman, Mrs. Nixon was employed with Peach County Schools as a cook and later retired from Bassett Furniture Company, where she worked as a machine operator.
Later in life, Mrs. Nixon married the late Bishop Jim Nixon, Jr., of Prattville, Alabama. Through this union, she became the First Lady of Zellner’s Chapel First Born Church of the Living God. She worked faithfully alongside her husband in ministry and was a living example of a Proverbs 31 Woman and a Titus 2 Woman. A faithful servant of the Lord, Mrs. Nixon was a devoted member of Zellner’s Chapel First Born Church of the Living God for more than 60 years. She served diligently as a Deaconess and Church Secretary, and her commitment to ministry extended beyond the local church as she also served on both the District and National Diocese levels as a Deaconess.
Mrs. Nixon was preceded in death by her husband, Bishop Jim Nixon, Jr., her son, Bobby Leon Brown, Sr.; her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Diane Lundy; her brothers, O.C. White, Rufus White, Fred White, Willie White, Bennie White, and Leonard White; and her sisters, Merlee White, Azelene Coleman, Ola Hollingshed, and her twin sister, Nettie Edwards.
