Sacajawea Wootson Cooper

Edwards Small Mortuary announces with our deepest sympathy the passing of Sacajawea Wootson Cooper.  Sacajawea entered into eternal rest on December 2, 2022.  She will be greatly missed.  Our condolences to the family and friends.

Sacajawea Contrilla Wootson Cooper, affectionately known as “Candi,” was born January 27, 1978, in Macon, Georgia to Carey and Patricia Wootson of Fort Valley, Georgia.

At an early age, Candi gave her life to Christ; she was a devoted member of The Greater Cathedral of Praise in Fort Valley, GA. On January 24th, 2015, Candi married Jeremy Jamarcus Cooper. Candi was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, cousin, and friend.

Candi gave birth to her first child Dalvin Wootson in 1992; defying all odds as a single teenage mother, Candi graduated from Peach County High School with Honors in 1997. After graduation, Candi Attended Fort Valley State University. Candi would give birth to her second child in 2000, Sinai Wootson. She graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice in 2003. Candi continued her education at FVSU, graduating Summa Cum Laude with a Master of Science degree in Rehabilitation Counseling and Case Management in 2005, and was pursuing her Ph.D. in Criminal Justice.

In her past time, she loved reading, writing, and rapping. She went by the stage name “Obbie” when she was on the mic. When she wasn’t rapping, she loved watching Beauty and the Beast and spending time with her friends and family.

On December 2, 2022, Candi answered the call to be promoted to her heavenly home after fighting a brief illness. Candi was preceded in death by her three brothers: Thatius Thomas, Pedro Wootson, and Artez Wootson; her paternal grandparents; Lillian Jordan Brown and Cornelius Wootson; maternal grandparents: Corene Riley Stanley and Andrew “Pete” Stanley.

She leaves to cherish her memories: husband, Jeremy Cooper, Fort Valley, GA; children: Dalvin Devante Wootson of Portland, Oregon; Sinai Na’jae Wootson of Fort Valley, GA; bonus children: Jeremy Cooper Jr and Kaijah Cooper of Fort Valley, GA; Jamerius Cooper of Byron GA; God Daughter, Nevaeh Wilson of Fort Valley, GA; parents: Carey and Patricia Wootson of Fort Valley, GA; sister: Latrelia Wootson (Charles Wilson) of Fort Valley GA; grandchildren: Dalvin Wootson Jr, Mckinley Wootson, Bryce Wootson, Jauslyn Owens, Londyn Wheeler, Roman Wootson, and Genesis Towns all of Fort Valley,GA; devoted cousin, Jerome Smith Jr of Fort Valley, GA; devoted friends: Shannon Williams, Cochran GA, Danyell Barry and Melissa Barnes both of Warner Robins, GA; devoted daughter in-love, Somerial Haugabook along with a host of nieces, nephews, aunties, uncles, cousins, and dear friends.
