Edwards Small Mortuary announces with our deepest sympathy the passing of Wilma J. Ransom.  Wilma entered into eternal rest on 11/13/2024.  Our sincere condolences to the family and friends. 

Wilma Jean Ransom, 76, passed away peacefully on November 13th, 2024 at Piedmont Macon. Wilma was born on December 31st, 1947 to the late Leobia Brown and Ida Hodge Brown. She was the second born of 6 children, Betty Brown Rawls, Mary Jackson (Jesse), Mayola Roberts, Leobia Brown Jr. and Leroy Brown (Tiffani).

Wilma grew up in Early County and graduated from Washington High School in 1964. She attended Fort Valley State College for 2 years after which she relocated to Cleveland, Ohio. She furthered her education at Regent College of Business School in Cleveland, Ohio in 1966.

 Wilma worked as a bank check processor until she decided to retire. Wilma stayed at home for one year. After deciding that being a housewife was not for her, she went back to school to train as a medical assistant. Wilma did medical billing with a local Cardiologist, Dr. Reed. She was later promoted to an office manager. She held this position until she retired for the last time.

 Wilma accepted Christ at a young age. She was baptized at Pine Grove Baptist Church but continued worshiping with her family at Union Hill Methodist Church where she was an usher and a Sunday School Recorder. While in Cleveland she joined Second Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church where she remained until moving back to Georgia.

 In August 1979, Wilma married the late Devon Ransom, with whom she shared a loving union. Together, they raised their three children: Erik Ransom, Crystal Ransom, and Nicole Ransom. Wilma was also a proud grandmother to five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

 Wilma was known for her vibrant personality and her love of sports. She enjoyed bowling in a women's league, where she once won the title of top bowler. She also had a passion for softball, and those who knew her were aware of her competitive spirit and love for the game. Wilma was especially passionate about family-she made sure her daughter was always active,

about family - she made sure her daughter was always active, participating as both a Scout leader for her daughter's Girl Scout troop and as a coach for her daughter's softball team. Her commitment to her daughter's growth and success was unwa-vering, and she made sure that travel was a big part of her daughter's life as well, encouraging exploration and adventure.

 Wilma also had a love for leisure and relaxation, and everyone knew to leave her undisturbed when her favorite show, Dallas, was on TV. She also had several hobbies of collecting M & M's and the new holiday barbie each year, resulting in a room full of barbies. Her unique blend of nurturing care, active involvement, and love for life made her a one-of-a-kind individual who will be missed by all who knew her.

 In March of 2015, Wilma moved to Georgia to assist with taking care of her mother. She joined an organization called Sister of Christ (better Known as the SOC. They enjoyed going to lunch every second Tuesday of the month and other social activities in the community.

 Wilma was preceded in death by both parents, and her husband Devon.

 Wilma leaves to cherish her memories: two daughters: Nicole of Hampton, VA and Crystal Ransom of Cleveland, OH, one son: Erik Ransom of Cleveland, OH, five grandchildren:

 Marcus Bargainer of Cleveland, OH, Erik Ransom Jr, (Denea) of Little Elm, Texas, Audriana Ransom of Indianapolis, Raigan Ruffin of Hampton, Virginia, and Cherysh Ransom of Cleve-land, OH, three sisters: Betty of Fort Valley, Mary (lesse) of Al-bany, Georgia, and Mayola Roberts of Fort Valley, Georgia, two brothers: Leobia of Albany, Georgia and Leroy (Tiffany) of Florida, a host of god Children, a host of nieces and nephews, and countless family and friends.
